Technology Integrated Lesson Plan

We felt the anticipatory set video, guided practice game featuring Randy the Raccoon, and using an iPad, Smart Board, or document camera to display the revised cupcake worksheet were the best options for integrating technology into our lesson as we had the ultimate goal of making the lesson far more accessible to each style of learner while keeping in mind that children at the first-grade level are just beginning to read and write:

1.) Visual,
2.) Auditory,
3.) Kinesthetic,
4.) Reading/Writing*

We felt like each of the three pieces of technology that we integrated created a fully-rounded lesson that when combined appealed to all 4 styles of learning! We also added additional possibilities for technology integration in our differentiation slides, these pieces of technology can offer additional support to students who need it, or enrichment for students who already have a grasp on the content being taught!

  1. Hi Calista! I like how your group incorporated the TPACK standards to guide the development of the lesson plan. The Randy Racoon guided practice is creative and engages students to move around and develop a positive perspective on learning. Your group provided a variety of technology resources and hands-on learning to enrich student learning. Additionally, you added how activities can be accessed at home as they can have more practice and created a lesson with the different learning styles in mind. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Hi Calista!
This lesson plan is very thorough and seems like an effective lesson. I remember Lorraine mentioning that your group revised the worksheets to fit with the standard, which I have seen done often with worksheets in classrooms. This was really cool and is definitely a helpful skill to have when designing lesson plans. Great work!

  3. Calista,
I like the poster game because it brings movement to the math lesson. Randy allows the students to be teachers and he models the thought process for students at the same time. I loved that! And it was super cute.

  4. Hi Calista!
You guys have a great presentation. your integration of technology was great. We also used a video as our anticipatory set and I think that can be pretty beneficial. Using Randy the Raccoon is something that is great. Kids want to have fun for the most part and adding games like this to it keeps them engaged. Great job!
